Value Meal

After a short vacation, Kenny and I returned to the Sells Studio only to discover a note from Michael: “Getting teeth whitened. Don’t break the show.” We did our best, appropriately dropping a ton of new tracks and raiding his drink cabinet. Kenny played some selections from the recent Detroit Electronic Music Festival. There’s a little bit of everything in this episode, including the first of many shameless plugs for our new live night at Hal and Al’s. Sit back and enjoy some stellar summer sounds from Tortoise, The Radio Dept, Phoenix, Grizzly Bear, Steve Bug, Lee Fields & the Expressions, DJ Koze, Joker, and more!

The three of us brought our own sets again this week, resulting in a moody but cohesive show. Michael kicks things off with some fresh beats from The Black Dog, Giant, Black Moth Super Rainbow, DJ Vadim, and Themselves. Kenny started moving strangely and decided it would be a good idea to take over with his own private dance party, dropping some Tiga, Muscles, and Nathan Fake. I had enough of that joy and unplugged his head from the soundboard, lulling the final third along with classics from The United States of America, Brian Eno, and a brand new piece from ambient-composer-genius William Basinski. It proved too much for us and were forced to take the next week off.
