Something sweetly sinister ran through this week’s episode. Ametsub sets the tone with a choppy cut from his latest album, Smallpeople smooth out the edges, veterans Mohn (Burger + Voight) glide along the landscape, newcomer Gacha delivers an insatiable debut, Baths remixes Lali Puna, Four Tet continues a streak of top 12s, Frog Pocket returns with new sounds and the added joy of typing “Frog Pocket.” Other oldies and classics make way. Manufactured live in the depths of an undisclosed studio..

This week Kenny Lectro takes us back to the future with a solo transmission from the Steady Flux Studio. He proves to be a child of the 80s not only by dropping a new one from Men Without Hats but also by littering the soundscape with uplifting messages. There’s a “Motivator” from Midwest Product, lessons to “Unlearn” from Psykosonik and talk of “Transformation” from The Human Experience. We’ve also got a peek into new albums by Para One and Muscles as well as hits from new EPs by Datassette, the Ed Banger crew and Maricopa. The future looks bright so put on your shades!

A powerful wind left us without electricity, but order has been restored and the show broadcasts on. Things start with a new one from Lorn, who continues to excel in the art of dark and haunted beats. A new single from Four Tet keeps things moving, Cooly G show us “What the World Needs Now,” John Tejada remixes Walls, The Flashbulb sheds some light with his latest album, and up and coming producer Mokhov shares a track from his new album “Perfect Dream.” A bit near the end we dig out classics from µ-Ziq, Monolake, and Gas. When the power runs out, we’ll just hum.

This week our friend Waggaman teams up with Beat Oracle DJ Kenny Lectro to serve up a healthy sampling of future music. Waggaman’s mix contains some real gems including new stuff from Synkro, Little Dragon (who get the remix treatment from Tycho), and Hackman. Kenny Lectro takes us home with heavy beats from Cupp Cake, a tune from new Warp Records artist Kwes, new music from School of Seven Bells and a whole lot more. It was a great week: Comfest, friends returning from afar, and the summer solstice! This week’s mix reflects that mood.

We dig into the well for new releases this week. The show kicks off with S.E.T.H. and moves into fresh sounds from Lauer, Lemonade, Mylo remixing M83, and Son Lux. The second hour of the show includes new tunes from Locked Groove, Marcel Dettmann, Airbird, Ursprung, and Blockhead. WCRS will be airing live jazz music next Saturday night, so we’ll be back on June 23. Let us know if there’s anything we should be checking out!

This week marks the end of our series of full strength spring mixes. During the next few months we’ll be mixing shorthanded due to various DJ travels, but the music will still be fresh! It is certainly fresh this week: new psychedelic sounds from Bullion and Belbury Poly, new d&b tunes from Anile & Hybrid Minds and Logistics, and new space electronics from Lone and Distal. Much more included in two hours of adventure. Listen!
