04/07/2012: Box of Tapes Vol. 2

This is another volume in our random series of old tapes. This one digs a bit back into the past: A first hour starring Beaumont Hannant, The KLF, Plug, and Autechre. The second hour is full of massive tracks from David Holmes, The Bionaut, Mantronix, Alec Empire and AFX. Two hours that reminded us it isn’t always about the new. Enjoy!

03/31/2012: Slightest Idea

After sorting through the endless track queue and stacks of new releases, we managed to put together a new radio episode. It’s an epic start with a song from Moss of Aura’s latest album “Still Parade,” while older highlights from Colourbox and Two Lone Swordsmen give way to the jazzier beats of Moomin and Public Lover. DVA drops a “Pretty Ugly” collection on Hyperdub, 2562 takes a trip to Jordan, Addison Groove gives a taste of his debut LP, and Peverelist amazes with another top 12″. Sit, stand, sleep, have a comfy listen.

03/24/2012: Box of Tapes Vol. 1

We found some mystery tapes with instructions, and played one on air at random. This is the result: A first hour of older hip-hop sounds, tracks from Krystal Klear, Belbury Poly, Blockhead, DJ Food. A second hour of labyrinth sounds: Bvdub, Orbital, Clark, Mux Mool. From another place, surely…

It’s a brand new week of first-class future music, and we dropped a ton of fresh releases across the FM airwaves. Hour-one showcases the latest from some of electronic music’s most reputable acts: Clark returns with his latest for Warp records, and Mouse on Mars treats us to some long awaited “Parastrophics.” There is a pair of singles from Software Records, and a pair of collaborations from Orcas (Benoit Pioulard + Rafael Anton Irisarri) and Mirroring (Grouper + Tiny Vipers). Hour-two dusts off some classic Commix, while Monolake and School of Seven Bells show off new tracks from their respective “ghost” inspired albums, and Moon Wiring Club weirds up the place with his beautiful blend of sounds. Thanks for listening!

02/18/2012: The Signifier and The Signified

This week we present sound organized in time! Our sentient senses assigned some meaning to Mux Mool’s “Butterfly Technique,” the ascending drift of Tycho’s hazy beats, the jazzy undertones of Shigeto’s “Field Trip,” and Scuba’s great 12″ “Hope.” Releases from Marcus Fischer and Quantec remind us that the medium is about silence as well. Enjoy the music!
